Fully Funded United Nations Nippon Foundation Fellowship 2023
United Nations Nippon Foundation Fellowship 2023 is open for government officials or mid-level professionals. This fellowship program will provide the fellows opportunity to learn about international legal frameworks, key challenges, and best practices to be adopted in ocean affairs. Moreover, it will make the fellows familiar with the work of the United Nations, and develop professional skills. Fellows will get an opportunity to conduct individual research and develop a written thesis on a topic selected by them under academic supervision. The fellowship comprises two periods: In the first period the fellows will undergo 3 months of research and training in New York. The training phase will be followed by the 6-month advanced academic research and study phase with a host institution having expertise in the fellows' chosen area of research.
Upon completion of the United Nations Nippon Foundation Fellowship, all the Fellows are expected to return to their home countries to utilize their knowledge and experience to provide assistance in formulating comprehensive ocean policy, designing, implementing, and evaluating specific improvement projects keeping in view the legal frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria:
For the Nippon Foundation Fellowship the candidates:
- Should be aged between 25 and 40
- Hold a first university degree
- Demonstrate a capacity to undertake independent advanced academic research and study
- Should be a mid-level professional
- Should propose research and study program contributing directly to his/her nation's formulation or implementation of ocean affairs and the law of the sea policies and programs
- Must be free of all the other obligations during the fellowship period
- Women are highly encouraged to apply

- Answer each question carefully and pay special attention to sections 18, 19 and 20.
- The applicant is allowed to add one additional page if required.
- The application form contains two documents; Personal History and Proposed Research/Study Program Form and Nomination and Recommendation Form. Both forms must be signed, the first one by the applicant, the second one by the official nominating authority.
